As we wildly careen towards the year’s end, here’s the wrap-up of what I’ve been up to in 2024!

Easily overshadowing everything was the May release of my book, which was over five years in the making. As you’re reading my Patreon, I’m sure you’re sick of hearing about it by now.
Neo-Nazi Terrorism and Countercultural Fascism: The Origins and Afterlife of James Mason’s Siege

Unfortunately, this was also the year I got Covid for the first time, and that pretty much nuked January and then dawdled into February

A lot of time and energy went into about fifteen (and counting!) IRL talks, which included dates in Berlin, London, Oslo, Dallas, Reno, Boise, Portland and Asheville. There were also almost as many podcasts, radio shows, and the like, many of which are available here:

I made a video based on a chapter in the book, which shows the extent of industrial musician Boyd Rice’s involvement with neo-Nazism. (I also learned how much time it takes to make a video!)

A couple reviews of the book appeared, in the LA Review of Books and the Fortean Times; I was hoping for a few more, and I’m still working on that. (Reach out if you want a review copy.)

People are often interested in Far Right monitors ourselves, which I sometimes find weird. Regardless, press is press, and a couple profiles ran about me: in the German paper taz as well as J. Jewish News of Northern California.

But making videos isn’t just more difficult than i thought—i also found that book publicity is a HUGE job! So i wrote a lot less than usual. There was an SPLC article with Hannah Gais about fascist (and Counter-Currents editor) Greg Johnson’s connection to the 2nd edition of Siege, as well as to a racist academic think tank, the Foundation for Human Understanding.

I also did a couple pieces for The Battleground which I thought turned out really well. The first covered how 10/7 affected different U.S. Jewish political factions, esp their relationship to each other.
★”The Gaza Effect: American Jews and Israel”

And this month I did a piece on the rise in how many people of color voted for Trump in 2024. I showed that this was not a fluke, but rather part of a rightward shift that has been going on for almost a decade.

I’m better (I hope?) about doing more solid Patreon posts. The most important was my “A Guide to Guides,” listing 30 guides for: organizing against the Far Right (including in schools and libraries), digital security, and emergency medical care.

I also have my annual wrap-up of the U.S. Far Right done which is with the the editor, and it should be out in a few days.)

Last, unfortunately a lot of time over the last few years—and by this, I mean hundreds of hours—was taken up with two major projects that proceeded to bit the dust in 2024. This kinda thing is obviously really depressing, but also something that’s happened to me several times in the last years. (I am not a lucky person). One is 100% DOA while the other will hopefully see the light of day… at some point.

2025 is pretty vague. I have three Seattle metro talks, on January 15, 16, and 17, and I’m trying to set some up in the Bay Area and Sacramento. (These look like the last ones I’m actively booking, though). Mostly I’m focused on getting a publisher for my history of U.S. National Socialism, although i’m also mulling updating my 40 Ways to Fight Fascists: Street-Legal Tactics for Community Activists guide. (However, that’s 100% $$$ dependent, so tell me if you have deep pockets and want to make this a reality!)

In any event, we’ll see what the new Trump regime brings soon enough. Hope everyone has the best 2025 they can in these dark times!
